Sarah “Sam” Arnall: Former League President and Charter Member

The Junior League of Fort Myers Community is saddened to hear of the passing of Charter Member and former Junior League President, Sarah “Sam” Arnall. Sam was an original charter member of the Junior Welfare League in 1966 and served as League President from 1969-1970. She was always a very active member of the League and remained involved long after she became a sustainer. Sam was recognized as achieving “Sustainer Emeritus” status of the League at the May annual meeting back in 2013.

Sam was the epitome of a civic leader in our community and was involved in dozens of other organizations in the Fort Myers area as well including the Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council, the Fort Myers Women’s Community Club, Rotary Club, and Cub Scouts of America. She also served as President of the Lee County Medical Auxiliary, the March of Dimes, and the Voluntary Service Bureau that provided volunteers to many charitable organizations in Southwest Florida. In 1971,In 1971, she was named Lee County Woman of the Year for her many contributions to her community. Memorial contributions may be made to Golisano Children’s Hospital or Hope Hospice.
