The Junior League Partners Again with The Local Soup Kitchen to Feed Area Residents

Fort Myers, FL – October 24, 2006 --The Junior League of Fort Myers will partner again with the Community Cooperative Ministries, Inc. (CCMI) to collect canned food at the 24th Annual Taste of the Town event On November 5, 2006 at 11am-5pm in Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers.  The Junior League of Fort Myers members began a relationship with CCMI in the 1990s, when teams of volunteers picked up excess and donated food from area restaurants, grocery stores, and dinner theatres.

All canned goods collected at Taste of the Town will help CCMI provide meals for area residents.  Each day, CCMI prepares 80-100 bag lunches for Able Body and Labor Ready day laborers; 300 hot meals for Meals on Wheels; 200 hot meals for men, women, and children served at CCMI; and breakfast and lunch for 40 children ages 2-5 at the CCMI’s Hands & Hearts Child Care Center.

If you would like to help CCMI with this important work, please bring your canned goods to Taste of the Town.  Goods will be collected at each entrance point.
