JUNIOR LEAGUE OF FORT MYERS COMPLETES FIRST PROJECT FOR OUR MOTHER'S HOME; PLANS FOLLOW UP EVENT

Feb. 8, 2007: FORT MYERS, Fla. – Volunteers from the Junior League of Fort Myers have completed their first project to support Our Mother’s Home, a non-profit home that provides a stable home for young women in foster care who have children.  Our Mother's Home was recently added to the list of local organizations that the JLFM supports.

Using approximately $4500 in funds earmarked for the home, volunteers working on Saturday, February 3rd furnished and decorated a living and working area which has recently been added on to their facility.

The JLFM will follow up its successful first trip to Our Mother's Home this Wednesday, February 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm to assemble office furniture as well as to redecorate the former staff office so that it becomes a comfortable bedroom for the overnight staff.

"Everybody that walks in here is amazed!  I was so impressed not just by what the ladies did, but by how they did it.  The spirit and enthusiasm that they brought was wonderful,” said Mary Lewis, Executive Director of Our Mother's Home.  "To see so many beautiful young women in the spirit of giving makes me have a sense of hope that our world isn't such a bad place."

About Our Mother's Home

Our Mother's Home provides a stable home for 8 girls under the age of 18 who have children themselves, and are in the state foster care system.  The home gives the girls a place to raise their babies, while keeping the new generation of children out of the state's foster system. Approximately 50% of the residents are victims of human trafficking.  For more information about Our Mother's Home, including photos and a history of the home please call 239-267-4663 or at www.ourmothershome.com.
