January 31, 2007: FORT MYERS, Fla. – Junior League of Fort Myers is
proud to announce that the League members have voted to add Our Mother’s
Home, a non-profit home that provides a stable home for young women who
have children and are in foster care, to their list of local
organization that they support.
To launch this support, the League is funding (approximately $4500) and
working on February 3rd from 9AM to 2PM at Our Mother's Home's facility
at 7438 Carrier Road in Fort Myers, to furnish and decorate a new area
which has been added on to their facility.
“We are excited to launch our support of Our Mother’s Home with this
great home improvement project,” states Deanne Kyle, President of the
Junior League of Fort Myers. “Our Mother’s Home is a great local
organization that is dedicated to the welfare of woman and children and
we are proud to be able to help them improve the lives of the girls they
touch.”
The JLFM will thoroughly clean and install newly provided storage and
toys for the children's play area, as well as provide new furniture,
floor and window coverings for their expanded office space. The
added space will be used to give the home more room for the residents,
space for effective management of the facility and an important place
for the young mothers to have meetings and attend therapy sessions.
Our Mother's Home provides a stable home for 8 girls under the age of 18 who have children themselves, and are in the state foster care system. The home gives the girls a place to raise their babies, while keeping the new generation of children out of the state's foster system. Approximately 50% of the residents are victims of human trafficking.
