JUNIOR LEAGUE OF FORT MYERS ANNOUNCES THE DATE FOR THE 25TH YEAR OF TASTE OF THE TOWN

FORT MYERS, Fla., Aug. 27, 2007 – The Junior League of Fort Myers today announced that the 25th Anniversary Taste of the Town festival will take place on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 from 11AM to 5PM at Centennial Park in Downtown Fort Myers.

Taste of the Town is a family-oriented food and entertainment festival that attracts more than 15,000 people every year.  For the last 24 years, the Junior League has partnered with local restaurants to allow the community to “taste” their signature dishes.  In addition to the food and drinks available, there will be a variety bands on two separate stages and plenty of entertainment and activities for children of all ages.

25th ANNIVERSARY BIGGER THAN EVER

“Taste of the Town attracts more people every year.  After 25 great years of bringing this event to our community, we’re grateful to the people of Southwest Florida and beyond for coming to enjoy this event and support the many causes the Junior League works for,” said Angela Brant, President, JLFM. 

“People who come to Taste of the Town not only can enjoy an affordable day of food and fun, but they can be assured that the proceeds stay right here in Southwest Florida and benefit the many organizations that the League supports.”

FOOD DRIVE HELD DURING TASTE OF THE TOWN

In keeping with the League’s mission to help improve the community, all visitors are encouraged to bring a can of food, which will be donated to The Soup Kitchen in Fort Myers.  The Soup Kitchen has been cooking in Fort Myers since 1984, serving a nutritious lunch six days a week to the homeless and at-risk.

TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets will be available at the gate for $5 per person. Children under 10 are FREE.

About Taste of the Town

Taste of the Town is the signature annual fund raising event of the Junior League of Fort Myers, Inc.  Proceeds are given back to the community through the League’s volunteer projects.  Organizations that have benefited from Taste of the Town funds include the Calusa Nature Center, the Imaginarium Hands-On Museum, the Women’s Resource Center, Our Mother’s Home, and the TLC Center.
