JUNIOR LEAGUE OF FORT MYERS TASTE OF THE TOWN COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES 2007 CHAIRPERSON,   CAROLYN BAKER MCCORD

FORT MYERS, Fla., Aug. 27, 2007 – The Junior League of Fort Myers today announced the election of Carolyn Baker-McCord as chairperson of the 25th Annual Taste of the Town.  The food and entertainment festival is the largest in Southwest Florida and was attended by more than 15,000 people in 2006.

The committee that plans Taste of the Town is composed of 23 volunteers from the Junior League of Fort Myers and takes months of planning to execute.  On the day of the event more than 150 volunteers from the League and 400 volunteers from the community are mobilized to turn Centennial Park in Downtown Fort Myers into a foodie’s dream.

Baker-McCord is a native of Memphis and has been a resident of Fort Myers since 2003.  She is a four-year veteran of the Junior League of Fort Myers, serving as the event’s co-chair in 2006.  She has also

Currently Baker-McCord is a realtor with Rawlings Realty, a large full-service real estate agency based in Fort Myers.  She has been married to husband James McCord for 12 years and enjoys walking, roller skating and watching college football, in particular, her beloved LSU Tigers.

“I’m very proud to be the Chair of this committee on its Silver Anniversary,” said Baker McCord.  “Leading this team of committed volunteers and working with our community partners has been an amazing experience and I’m sure it will result in an unforgettable event.  It inspires me to see how many people are willing to put in hundreds of hours in order to make the Junior League’s mission a reality.  We’re here to serve this community while empowering women!”

Co-chairs for this year’s Taste of the Town event are:

·         Michelle Thomas, Assistant General Manager for Saturn of Southwest Florida.  She is a three-year member of the Junior League of Fort Myers.

·         Paige Biagi, Chief Legislative Aide to State Representative Gary Aubuchon.  Biagi is a three-year member of the Junior League of Fort Myers. 

About Taste of the Town

Taste of the Town is the signature annual fund raising event of the Junior League of Fort Myers, Inc.  Proceeds are given back to the community through the League’s volunteer projects.  Organizations that have benefited from Taste of the Town funds include the Calusa Nature Center, the Imaginarium Hands-On Museum, the Women’s Resource Center, Our Mother’s Home, and the TLC Center.
