Provisional Course Objectives
New JLFM members take part in a four-month Provisional
course before being activated as full members. The
GOAL of your Provisional Class is to prepare you for
Active Membership in the Junior League of Fort Myers.
You will explore the variety of opportunities and
benefits our organization offers its members.
Provisionals will:
- Become familiar with JLFM’s mission, vision, and organizational
structure by seeing the board, councils and committees in action.
- Become informed about JLFM Community Projects and how they
support the Fort Myers community.
- Participate in a JLFM Community Action Team Project and
participate in JLFM fundraising activities.
- Through participation, Provisional will learn project planning,
implementation, and gain hands-on volunteer experience.

Provisional Class Requirements
- Attend all three (3) Provisional meetings.*
- Attend Super Saturday.
- Participate in Community Tour (on Super
Saturday).
- Attend General Meetings
- Fall: 2 out of 3 (with total of 5 by end of League year)
- Spring: 2 out of 3
- Attend 1 or more Committee meetings (of most
interest to provisional)
- Fundraising Placement -
- Fall – Taste of the Town requirement (in Policy Membership
Requirements and Fundraising ballot)
- Spring – work on
Cookbook or another fundraiser.
- Project Placement - Each Provisional will
be involved in a project or projects, totaling at least 4 hours of
participation. Completed project hours for Fall Provisionals will fulfill their
active project hour requirements in the spring.
- Buy and/or sell three (3) Tropical Settings
cookbooks.
- Pay Provisional Course fee of $40.00, plus
annual JLFM dues of $120 for Fall Class, $60 for Spring Class.
- Purchase Junior League polo shirt ($22.00)
- Fulfill all other General Membership Requirements as stated in the
Policies.
Provisionals who meet their requirements will be voted Active by the Board at
the December and May Board meetings and they will be announced as Actives in the
January and May General meetings, respectively. If they have not completed
their requirements, they can “rollover” to the next class and complete them
within that timeframe. They will then become active with the next class at
the END of the next provisional period.
* If a provisional misses one of these meetings, she can attend the Council
meeting that corresponds to the focus of the meeting she missed (with VP
approval) and watch a video of the provisional meeting presentations, and that
will count as a make-up meeting.
